What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

Utah Global Investments, LLC collects the type of data that websites routinely collect to interact with its visitors via online forms and comment forms, as well as via technical processes such as cookies, analytics, and interactions with software provided by third party websites.

However, as an EB-5 regional center, we also collect client and case-specific information for site visitors who seek to engage our services. This information includes, but is not limited to, information such as your name, email address, IP address, physical address, documents you upload or provide to UGI, and other information relevant to our services.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact & Email Forms

Our sites use a variety of contact and other forms to allow visitors to interact with our site. If you provide information to us via our online forms, that information, such as your name, email address, message, and other information you provide via the form, including technical information required to process your interaction, such as your IP address, is collected and retained indefinitely.

To power contact form and email form interactions on our websites, we use the Gravity Forms Plugin, the Divi theme functionality provided by Elegant Themes, and Optin Monster. Personal information collected from your form interactions are not shared with Gravity Forms or Elegant Themes.

Optin Monster collects analytics information to assist us with our email marketing efforts.

We may use email addresses collected by any means on our website to send email marketing campaigns via MailChimp.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Client information, for site visitors and users who retain the firm for legal services, is retained indefinitely. Clients may also request, in writing, that information relating to their case be removed from our records, both digital and physical.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request, in writing, to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request, in writing, that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where We Send Your Data

Utah Global Investments websites are hosted on servers provided via Digital Ocean. (https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/privacy-policy/). Client information is hosted on their hardware.

Additionally, we use a content delivery network, CloudFlare, to provide rapid delivery of web pages and website interactions to site visitors. (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/)

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Visitor information may be passed through or processed via the providers mentioned in this section in order to provide a high-quality website experience to site visitors.

Third Party Software: MailChimp

We may provide visitor email addresses to MailChimp for email marketing purposes. (https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/). MailChimp sends email to visitors who have provided an email address to Utah Global Investments, and provides non-identifying aggregate information in the form of statistics to help us improve our email marketing efforts.

Third Party Software: Optin Monster

We use Optin Monster to help us collect email addresses for email marketing purposes. (https://optinmonster.com/privacy/). Optin Monster routes email addresses to MailChimp, our email marketing provider addressed above.

It provides data in the aggregate to help us review our email collection strategies.

Third Party Software: Intercom

We use third-party analytics services to help understand your usage of our services. In particular, we may provide a limited amount of your information (such as sign-up date and some personal information like your email address) to Intercom, Inc. (“Intercom”) and utilize Intercom to collect data for analytics purposes when you visit our website or use our product. As a data processor acting on our behalf, Intercom analyzes your use of our website and/or product and tracks our relationship by way of cookies and similar technologies so that we can improve our service to you. Third Party Software: Stripe

We use Stripe to process payments online. Stripe may store, collect, or share personal data in accordance with their privacy practices in order to allow you to pay for products or services. (https://stripe.com/us/privacy).

While we currently only use Stripe to process payments online, we may use other point of sale products or payment processors in our office, or online in the future. We will only share the information necessary to process payment with those third parties.

WordPress Plugins: Akismet

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
